Many prop firms require you to close all positions before the weekend, which is a major limitation for swing traders and position traders whose strategies depend on holding trades for days or weeks. Firms that allow weekend holding let you maintain positions through Saturday and Sunday, capturing moves from weekend gaps and Monday opens.

Weekend holding adds gap risk, and some firms attach conditions to it, such as allowing it only on certain programmes or account types. A firm is listed here when its own website says at least one programme allows weekend holding without a paid add-on, so check that the programme you plan to buy is one of them.

If your strategy specifically targets weekend gaps or Sunday market opens, make sure the firm doesn't just allow holding but also has reasonable overnight swap rates. Some firms charge excessive swap fees that can erode the profitability of multi-day positions.
