Overview

ONYX Futures is a futures prop trading firm run by Onyx Futures LLC. Its rules page says the current product is Express to Live, and that Sapphire, Flex and Gold are legacy tracks closed to new purchase. The firm describes a single phase: an evaluation and, on passing it, a live account.

The firm says all ONYX accounts are simulated and that evaluations use virtual funds. Its pages also describe a live account at a real broker after a passed evaluation. Its Terms say that live account is not simulated and is a real brokerage account at a futures commission merchant, offered at the firm's discretion and subject to broker approval. We set out both statements below.

This review is shorter than usual. We could not see account prices or profit targets for Express to Live in the pages we saved, so we leave them out.

Everything in this review comes from ONYX Futures' own web pages, saved on 10 October 2026. Rules and prices change, so check the firm's site before you buy.

Programmes and Prices

The rules page says “The current product is Express to Live”. It calls Sapphire, Flex and Gold legacy tracks, closed to new purchase. ONYX says it operates one phase: an evaluation, then a live account on passing.

The homepage says allocations run from 25K to 150K, with static or end-of-day (EOD) drawdown. The rules page says ONYX accounts are sold as a one-time fee, with no recurring subscription and no monthly billing.

We could not see the purchase price of any account in the pages we saved. The rules page does give reset fees:

ProgrammeStatusReset fee
Express to Live (Static)Current product$89 flat at every size
Express to Live (EOD)Current product$79 flat at every size
SapphireLegacy, closed to new purchase$65 to $170 by size
FlexLegacy, closed to new purchase$69 to $249 by account size

The rules page says Express to Live is limited to 6 active accounts and $6,000 in combined drawdown.

Trading Rules

Daily loss and drawdown

The rules page says no ONYX account carries a forced daily loss limit, and that you may optionally set your own from the dashboard. The homepage describes the drawdown as static or end of day, “fixed against the account”, and says it “does not ratchet up behind a good week”. The rules page also lists the rule “Never breach the end-of-day trailing drawdown”, calculated at market close, not intraday. In the text we saw, that rule does not name the programme it applies to, so check the drawdown terms for your account before you buy.

Minimum days and time limits

The homepage says “No minimum days, no clock” and “No time limit”. The legacy tracks have their own rules on the rules page: on Sapphire or Gold, you must reach the profit target for your account size over a minimum of three trading days. Flex has no minimum trading days.

Consistency rules

The rules page sets a 40% consistency rule on Sapphire, Ruby, Gold and Platinum, and a 52% consistency rule during the Flex evaluation only. Ruby and Platinum are not described elsewhere in the pages we saved. We did not see a consistency rule for Express to Live.

Restrictions and Prohibited Strategies

  • Markets: only futures listed on CME, COMEX, NYMEX and CBOT may be traded. Stocks, options, forex, crypto and CFDs are prohibited.
  • News: all positions must be closed at least two minutes before scheduled tier-1 economic releases.
  • Holding: overnight or weekend holds are not permitted.
  • Automated trading: the rules page indicates it is not permitted; the sentence reads “Automated trading is not, and overnight or weekend holds are not permitted.”
  • Other bans: latency arbitrage, account sharing and exploitation of system errors are prohibited and result in disqualification.

Payouts and Scaling

The rules page says your share of net profits is 90 percent and ONYX retains 10 percent. The about page says the same: “Ninety percent of the profit is yours”.

According to the rules page:

  • you may request a withdrawal on any day, with no minimum number of days between requests and no cap on the amount;
  • every request is reviewed by a person and approved within 24 hours;
  • the minimum withdrawal is $100;
  • money is sent by ACH bank transfer or bank wire, domestic or international, and payouts are not sent in cryptocurrency.

The firm says reward payouts are discretionary and subject to eligibility, full rule compliance, identity verification, its published payout rules and applicable tax laws.

The homepage mentions “Priority on scale-ups”. We did not see the details of a scaling plan.

Platforms and Markets

The rules page says an evaluation takes place in a simulated environment using paper-trading accounts on the Rithmic platform. The homepage mentions “Six platforms” and “Rithmic routing”, but the pages we saved do not name all six.

The platform page says ONYX is powered by Rithmic, dxFeed and CME data feeds, with charting on web, desktop and mobile. The platform page mentions “Our partner platform, on your Rithmic login.” It also lists TradingView charting, footprint and volume profile, 80+ indicators and Deep Studies, 40+ trading and analysis panels and a native multi-account copier; the text we saved does not show which platform each feature belongs to. We did not see a rule on copy trading in the rules page text we saved.

Tradeable markets are futures listed on CME, COMEX, NYMEX and CBOT.

Company and Terms

  • Operator: the firm's pages say Onyx Futures LLC is a limited liability company registered in Illinois, United States.
  • Status: the pages say ONYX is not a broker, dealer, futures commission merchant, exchange, bank, investment adviser or financial advisor, and that CFTC Rule 4.41 applies.
  • Simulated accounts: the firm says all ONYX accounts are simulated, and that no real capital is at risk, no orders are routed to any exchange and no live market execution takes place.
  • Live account: the Terms say passing an evaluation makes you eligible for a live account, offered at the firm's discretion and subject to broker approval. They say a live account opened after a passed evaluation is not simulated, is a real brokerage account at a futures commission merchant, and involves real money and real market risk.
  • Refunds: the rules page says all fees are non-refundable once trading credentials have been issued; if you have not received credentials, contact support within 24 hours of purchase. The Terms say evaluation fees are non-refundable regardless of outcome.
  • Eligibility: services are restricted to people aged 18 or over and are not available to residents of comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions. The rules page says that from 1 October 2026 the firm cannot accept traders resident in a list of countries starting with Afghanistan, Albania and Antarctica; we could not see the full list. We did not see a statement on US residents.
  • Results: the firm says most traders do not pass an evaluation.
  • Contact: support@onyx-futures.com, according to the about page.

On simulated versus live accounts, the firm's pages say both that all ONYX accounts are simulated and that a passed evaluation leads to a live account at a real broker. We used the Terms' wording above, which treats the evaluation as simulated and the live account as a real brokerage account.

Who It Suits

Based on its own rules, ONYX suits futures traders who trade manually and intraday on CME, COMEX, NYMEX and CBOT contracts, close positions before tier-1 news, and do not hold overnight or over the weekend. Traders who want to run automated strategies or hold positions overnight will find these not permitted.
